Mary Subia Rodriguez, 75, of Lubbock passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 15, 2013.  She was born January 7, 1938 in Big Spring to Prudencio and Guadalupe (Garcia) Subia.  Mary has lived in Lubbock since 1956.  She married Alvaro M. Rodriguez on December 10, 1961 in Lubbock.  She worked as a homemaker and was a Cursillista, as well as an active member of Christ the King Cathedral.  Mary was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family very much.

Those left to cherish her memory are seven sons, Albert and Juaquin of Austin, Jessie, David and Alvaro, Jr. of Houston, Chris and John Paul of Lubbock; nine daughters, Virginia Avila, Rita Licona, and Betty Martinez of Houston, Mary Jaimes of Corpus Christi, Mary Ann Cooper of Shallowater, Belinda Rodriguez, Jenny Rodriguez, and Victoria Gomez of Lubbock, Linda Guerra of Levelland; 41grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Bernanda “Lali” DeLeon , one brother, Jose Subia; and her son, Andres Perez, Jr.

The family will receive friends 3:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel.  Viewing will also be held beginning at 9:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 with rosary starting at 7:00 p.m.  Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January19, 2013 at Christ the King Cathedral with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
