Mary Ellen (Duffy) White, 94, of Lubbock went to be with Jesus on Monday, November 29, 2021. She was born June 21, 1927, in Amherst, TX to C.A. Duffy and Alma Louise (Hughes) Duffy. She resided in Lubbock, TX for 70 years.
Mary Ellen graduated from Texas Tech University in 1948 with a degree in journalism. She married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth P. White, Sr. on December 7, 1951. She was a faithful member of Christ the King Cathedral, Lubbock, TX.
Mary Ellen was affectionately called Sweet Mimi by everyone who knew her. Many refer to her as the sweetest, most loving, kind, and happy person they have ever met. Her love spilled over into the hearts of everyone and was an overflow of her love and devotion to Jesus.
Mary Ellen is survived by Barbara White (Ken, Jr.'s wife); her children, John Christopher White and wife Sharlane of Loveland, CO, Amy Ryburn and husband Scott of Midland, TX, Kathy Killian and husband Kevin of Richmond, TX, and Rebecca White; grandchildren, Kay Vugrin (Eric), Travis White (Victoria), Kristi White, Kerri Neely (Brad), Brent White (Dani), Kirsten Miller (Logan), Allison Strand (Andrew), Ben Ryburn (Sarah), Chris Ryburn (Amy), Courtney Ryburn, Matt Killian (Kristi), Aaron Killian (Amy), Shelly Sully (Colin), and Alexandria Stowers; 21 great grandchildren; sister, Linda Hensel; brother, Michael Duffy (Jeanie); and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth P. White, Sr.; son, Kenneth P. White, Jr; four infant daughters and one infant son; and brother, C.A. Duffy, Jr.;
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, Lubbock, Tx 79401. The service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with burial at Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations in Mary Ellen's memory to Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 21st Street, Lubbock, TX 79410.
The family would like to thank her beloved caregiver and dear family friend, Cynthia Nesmith and her wonderful husband, Dietrich Nesmith. Also a special thank you to Hospice of Lubbock and their very caring staff and to the excellent and loving staff of Adams Assisted Living Community.
