Meliton C. Quiroz, Jr.

Meliton C. Quiroz, Jr. of Petersburg passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the age of 78.  He was born on October 28, 1936 in Reedville, Texas to Meliton and Joventina (Carranco) Quiroz, Sr. He farmed in the Petersburg community for many years. On September 11, 1958 Meliton married Genevieve Grace Valdez in Visalia, California. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Genevieve; children, Raul Rodriguez of San Marcos, Richard Quiroz (Rose) of Austin, David Quiroz (Carolina) of Kyle, Joseph Quiroz (Erminia) of Austin, Mary Amador (James) of Idalou,

Gregory Quiroz (Amy) of Buda; mother, Joventina Quiroz of Austin; sisters, Agapita Castro of Austin, Filomena Rocha of Petersburg, Felipa Quiroz of Austin, Leandra Serda of San Antonio and Tomasa Camacho of Downey, California; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. 

Meliton was preceded in death by his father; sons, Daniel and Robert Quiroz; sister, Frances Garza; and a brother, Doroteo Quiroz.

Visitation will be 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014 with the rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Combest Family Memorial Chapel in Lubbock.  Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Petersburg with interment to follow at Petersburg Cemetery.
