Melody L. Martin

Melody L. Martin, 69, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. She came into this world, on September 1, 1955, born to Claude V. Bennett and Juanita L. (Wardle) Bennett, in Little Rock, AR. She was married to the love of her life, Jimmy Martin, on May 5, 1974.

Melody was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, a caretaker, and so much more. She was fierce in her convictions, and sincere in her love. She could be friend or foe, and fiery in both. She was always ready with words of encouragement and comfort. And the moments of attempted wisdom.

Melody devoted much of her life to assisting others. She spent many years as a care giver to her daughter Kelly, and her husband Jimmy. Even with those responsibilities, she was always aiding those around her; she found peace and fulfillment in helping. So dedicated was she, she even delivered a baby in the front seat of her car, when they realized they would not make it to the hospital in time.

Melody leaves behind fond memories, kind words, and a mountain of love. Not to mention so much stuff, it will take ages to go through. But that was her life. She gathered goodness to her and didn’t let go.

Melody is survived by her son, Patrick Martin and wife Sarah, of Lubbock; two brothers: Ron Bennett and wife Karen, and Jay Bennett; three sisters: Patricia Riddle and husband Jimmy, Donna Higginbotham, and Loretta Bennett; two grandchildren: Isabella Martin and Ann’belle Bishop. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jimmy, her daughter, Kelly, and her brother, Steven Bennett.

No services are planned at this time.
