Meredith "Buddy" Mahurin

Meredith Neil “Buddy” Mahurin, 76, of O’Donnell passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021.  He was born September 25, 1944, in O’Donnell to E.C. and Margaret (Sessom) Mahurin.  Buddy enlisted in the U.S. Air Force April 4, 1965 and served during Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged April 13, 1971.  After the military, Buddy married Marsha (Johnson) Mahurin September 3, 1976, in Shallowater.  Later in life Buddy worked for Atmos Energy for several years before retiring in 2000.  He was a simple man who enjoyed drinking coffee, his cigarettes, watching westerns, and his family.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 45 years, Marsha; his children, Denise Mahurin, Stephanie Mahurin Grantham and husband Jason, Landon Mahurin all of Lubbock; siblings, Ruthie Kunkel of Mesquite, Therlene Bowles of Dallas; five grandchildren, Kaleb Henderson, Haley Simpson, Keagen Grantham, Kerrigan Grantham, and Jaden Simpson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy Joe Mahurin, Tommy Mahurin; and sister, Annette (Mahurin) Jackson.

A graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2021, at O’Donnell Cemetery.
