Mike Mcafee

Mike McAfee, 60, of Lubbock, passed away on Monday afternoon, April 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on December 29, 1961, in Avon Park (Highlands County), Florida.

Mike attended and graduated from Monterey High School in 1978. He met and married Tanya Hodges, the love of his life, on January 26, 1980, in Lubbock.

He has worked as a construction foreman for Siegel's Construction in Lubbock for 19 years. Mike was a very family-oriented soul and loved his family very much and thrived in making them happy. He loved the lake, especially Possum Kingdom, where he fished, boated on his pontoon boat and enjoyed his Bud Light in a can, as he always liked a cold one. He also loved to work in his yard and enjoyed just sitting outside, taking in what the world had to offer.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his loving wife, Tanya; one son, Joshua McAfee and his wife Jamie of Lubbock; one daughter, Jessica Johnson and her husband Clint of Copperas Cove; mother and father, Rex and Barbara Orpurt of Florida; five brothers, Rex Orpurt and wife Mary of Indiana, Wayne Orpurt of Michigan, Wesley McAfee and wife Mary of Maryland, Steve McAfee and wife Brenda of Florida, Chris Orpurt and wife Cristy of Florida; one sister, Deb Ashbay of Michigan; four grandchildren, Timothy and Riley Johnson and Tawnee and Maddye McAfee.

Mike's life will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, April 15, 2022, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Royce Riggins and Nancy Edge will be the officiants. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
