Nelda "Nanny" Audine (Ray) Moore

Nelda “Nanny” Audine Ray Moore, 84, of Lubbock, was lifted into heaven by her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.  She was born on October 24, 1938, in Littlefield, Texas, to the late Aubrey Monroe Ray and Sybil (Linton) Ray.

Nelda attended Anton High School and graduated with the senior class of 1956.

Nelda lived life to its fullest in all aspects.  She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother of which she adored her grandchildren and lived her life for them.  She was affectionately known as Nanny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Nelda was a devoted lover of her fur babies and cherished them as if they were her children.  She liked to crochet, sew, play cards, play I-Pad games and collect elephants.  Her favorite musical artists included Elvis Presley, Alan Jackson and George Strait.  She was  a devoted Christian and a long time member of the United Methodist Church.

Nelda worked as a customer service representative for Texas Lighting in Lubbock for 17 years, from 1989 to 2006, before retiring in 2006.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include one son, Randy Moore and his wife Chyrel of Anton; two daughters, Gail Vandiver and her husband Jerry Billington of Lubbock, and Pam Perkins and her husband Jerry of Tye; one brother, William Carroll Ray of Lorenzo.  Nelda’s adored grandchildren include Rachelle Quintero of Lubbock, James Vandiver and his partner Stephanie of Lubbock, Garrett Chastain and his wife Lauren of Lubbock, Kaytlan Washburn and her husband Nate of Lubbock, and Tori Rae Chastain of Abilene.  Her loving great-grandchildren include Isabel Quintero of Lubbock, Sebastian Quintero of Lubbock, Ambrose Quintero of Lubbock, Rayden Smith of Abilene, Ryker Smith of Abilene and Tayler Hope Washburn of Lubbock.  She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.  Nelda was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Aubrey Ray.

Celebration of Life services for Nelda will be planned and announced later.
