Norma Jean (Brunett) Brown, 74, of Lubbock passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022. She was born on October 11, 1947 in Dickson, Tennessee to Emile and Mildred (Dickson) Brunett. Norma grew up on the family farm in Dickson and earned her Bachelors degree at Austin Peay University in Clarksville, Tennessee. After moving to Texas, she earned her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from North Texas State University in Denton. Norma was a lifelong learner and loved helping people. She was a Licensed Professional Counselor and worked for Texas MHMR, Texas Tech University and in private practice where she worked with mental health patients and with those suffering from the disease of addiction. Norma married Jerry Brown on June 16, 1973 in Vernon, Texas. She was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother. Norma enjoyed art and serving as a volunteer with CASA. She was a devoted, active member of First Christian Church where she continued caring for others as she served in many different capacities including as a Deacon. Norma loved visiting with everyone on Sunday's as she worked in the church's Coffee Shop.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years, Jerry D. Brown; daughter Kimberly Rene Brown and husband Greg Pierce; son, Christopher J. Brown and wife Jessica Brown; brother, Gary N. Burnett and wife Robin Burnett; two nephews, Neil Brunett and Ethan Brunett and wife Bethany and great niece, Leora; 2 grandchildren Emma Grace Pierce and Ean Gregory Pierce.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emile and Mildred Brunett.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Norma will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 11am at First Christian Church in Lubbock. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock, CASA, or First Christian Church.
