Novella Lee Rattan

December 19, 1941 — January 30, 2025

Novella Lee Rattan, born on December 19, 1941, in Lamesa, Texas, to Eva Mae Lowrance and Gordan Duncan McGee, Sr., peacefully passed away surrounded by love on January 30, 2025.

A proud graduate of high school, Novella married Glenn Rattan in Lubbock on August 19, 1960. Together, they were blessed with three children who brought her immense joy.

Novella dedicated her life to nurturing children in her home and community. She was actively involved in daycare, Sunday School, the PTA, and served as a Cub Scout Leader. Her passion for young people was evident in her deep commitment to their development. Beyond her devotion to children, Novella held her family close to her heart. A loving and vital presence, she played an integral role in the lives of her six siblings and cared for both her mother and mother-in-law until their passing.

An avid lover of nature and dogs, Novella found joy in flowers, especially roses. Music also held a special place in her heart, with a particular fondness for Western Swing and Bluegrass. She cherished traveling to Bluegrass Festivals, where she enjoyed meeting new people and socializing.

Novella was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother John McGee, her younger brother Jerry McGee, and her son John Rattan. She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Glenn Rattan; her children, Pam and Will; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Rene McClesky and Kelly Tice, as well as her brothers, James McGee, Gordon McGee, and Virgil McGee.

Her family invites you to celebrate her remarkable life at a graveside service on Wednesday, February 5th, at 11 am in the White Flat Cemetery in Flomot, TX.
