Ofelia Perez

Ofelia Perez, a woman who dedicated her life to the most important career of all—raising family—passed away on December 27, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 86. She was born on November 20, 1937, in Edinburg, Texas to Miguel and Cecilia Ledesma. Ofelia was a remarkable individual who will be remembered for her beautiful strength, fun-loving nature, and unwavering love for everyone around her.

Family meant everything to Ofelia Perez. She was a caring and loving wife to Matias Perez Sr., who precedes her in death. She also leaves behind a rich legacy through her children: Sylvia Perez Padilla (Robert Padilla), Aleida Perez Garcia (Joe Garcia Sr.), Gloria Perez, Matias Perez Jr. (Theresa), Tony Perez (Janie), Raul Perez (Miriam), Robert Perez. Her devotion to her loved ones extended beyond her children to include her grandchildren: Laurie Padilla Pacheco, Joe Garcia Jr., Catherine Padilla, Andrew Garcia, Matias Perez III, Tony Ortiz Jr., Michael Perez, Orlando Ortiz, Stephanie Perez, Steven Garcia, Raul Ortiz, Celeste Perez and Cecilia Perez. To further honor Ofelia's memory are her 27 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Ofelia found joy in the simple things in life.  She loved to feed birds and taught her family to do the same. Visiting with friends on the phone brought her immense happiness; although it was known that no calls were allowed during her favorite novelas. Some of the fondest memories of Ofelia lie within her cooking abilities and adorable infatuation with tiny pots, pans, and dishes.

In addition to being a beloved wife and mother, Ofelia's proudest accomplishment undoubtedly lies within her family. She poured every ounce of love and dedication into creating a strong bond that will last for generations to come. Her selflessness and unwavering support were felt by everyone lucky enough to be part of her life.

Services to honor and celebrate Ofelia Perez's life will be held at Combest Family Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will take place on December 29, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on December 30, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the same location. Following the funeral service, a graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Ofelia Perez's legacy will live on through her family and all those she touched during her time with us. She will always be remembered as a beacon of love, strength, and care for everyone fortunate enough to have known her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
