Oscar (PeeWee) Elmer Follis, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather passed away on January 11, 2024. He was born on April 21, 1926, in Quitaque, TX. Oscar's passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
Oscar lived a fulfilling life marked by dedication and hard work. He owned and operated Follis Heating & Air Conditioning until his retirement in 2018. His commitment to his craft earned him the respect and admiration of the community he served.
In addition to his successful career, Oscar served his country with honor as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. From October 13, 1950, to August 2, 1951, he demonstrated bravery and courage while serving his nation. Oscar received numerous awards for his service, including the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Campaign Star. On July 27, 2021, he was also presented with the prestigious Ambassador of Peace Medal by the Republic of Korea. Oscar's dedication to his country continued beyond his military service as he actively participated in the Veteran's Honor Flight.
Outside of work and military duties, Oscar found joy in traveling and attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities. He cherished every moment spent with them and took pride in their accomplishments.
Oscar is preceded in death by his beloved wife Wilma Dean (Gage) Follis; parents: Edgar Lee & Gladys Marie Follis; brother James Howard Follis; and sister Linda Gail Follis Murphy. Their memories will forever be treasured by those who loved them.
Oscar leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his sons Woody Follis (Kay) and Ronny Follis (Susann), both from Wilson, TX. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings: E.L. Follis Jr. of O'Donnell, TX, and Barbara Ann Cooley of Big Spring, TX. Oscar's memory will also be carried on by his cherished grandchildren: Kenny Follis (Sissy), Dusty Follis (Valerie), Randal Follis (Tia), and Stephen Follis (Emma). His great-grandchildren, Kendell, Abigail, Emma, Miles, Dakota, Eli, Rosemary, and one great-great-grandchild will forever hold him in their hearts.
A visitation to honor Oscar's life will be held at Combest Family Funeral Home - Tahoka on January 14, 2024. Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on January 15, 2024, starting at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Wilson, TX.
Oscar Follis will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His unwavering dedication to his family and community serves as an inspiration to all who knew him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
