Paul D. Beden

August 13, 1933 — March 12, 2025

Paul D. Beden, born on August 13, 1933, in Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 12, 2025, following a major heart attack on March 5. He was 91 years old. Paul was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend who touched the lives of those around him with his kindness and unwavering faith.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Jeannie Beden. Their life together was marked by love, laughter, and a partnership that inspired all who knew them. Paul is also survived by his brother, Larry, and his little sister, Dorothy. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Cecil, who passed away in 2023.

Paul was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, having served as a navigator on a B-29 Super Fortress. His service included a memorable period stationed in Hawaii, which he longed to revisit. In 2002, he fulfilled that dream during a reunion with his siblings and their spouses, creating cherished memories that he held dear. His professional journey included a distinguished 30-year career with the Wichita Fire Department, where he retired with the rank of Lieutenant. Following his retirement, Paul and Jeannie moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he continued to serve his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Dido Fire Department for several more years.

A man of deep faith, Paul was a dedicated member of his church, actively participating in the life of the congregation. Known for being an admired Deacon, he readily offered prayers and support to anyone in need, demonstrating compassion and empathy throughout his life. Even in his final years, when health issues made attendance challenging, Paul never missed an opportunity for daily devotion alongside Jeannie, grounding their relationship in shared faith and love.

He had a deep voice, snow-white hair, could be a bit ornery and a tease, and took his love of food very seriously - although you’d never know it to look at him! He was affectionately dubbed “Cookie Monster” by his Lubbock family, but his favorite dessert was always pie; if asked which pie was his favorite, he’d respond “hot or cold.”

His family includes loving children and grandchildren who will greatly miss him: his daughter Cindy and her children Isaac, Joe, Joanna, Andrew, Lydia, Ben, Martha, and Talitha; and his son Warren, and his children Colton, Brianna, and Wyatt. All of whom knew their Grampy, as he was known to them, loved them unconditionally and was unafraid to show that affection each time he saw or spoke with them.

Paul D. Beden leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faith that will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by many.
