Paul E. Withers

December 22, 1946 — April 11, 2025

Paul Elmer Withers, age 78, of Reidsville, North Carolina, peacefully passed away at his home on April 11, 2025.

Born in Bonham, Texas, Paul was the son of the late John Eli and Bessie Rowland Withers. He made North Carolina his home 15 years ago after moving from Texas. A dedicated professional, Paul worked as a truck driver for Swift Transportation and later Paschall Truck Lines.

Paul proudly served his country as a United States Army Vietnam Veteran from 1966 to 1967. He was also an ordained minister, having received his ordination at Butler Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas. Paul was an avid, accomplished poet. He wrote thousands of poems through his lifetime. In his leisure time, Paul enjoyed working on cars, driving his truck, watching television, and cherishing moments spent with friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Mary Lou Benton Withers, two brothers, and four sisters.

Paul is survived by his sons, Kevin Withers of Waco, Texas, and Dwayne Withers (Mary) of West, Texas; his daughter, Marilyn Withers (John Koziol) of Pueblo, Colorado; and his brother, Bobby Withers of Lubbock, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren — Joshua Withers, Emma Coblentz (Jordan), Ashley Withers, Nicole Rollo (Brian Cabalar), Julie Rollo, and Johnny Wasik — as well as his great-grandchildren, Audrey, Astrid, and Aidan.

Paul will be remembered for his faith, service to others, and the profound impact he made on the lives of those around him. His spirit and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
