Pedro Castro, Sr.

On Tuesday, January 21st, Pedro “Pete” Castro, Sr., 93, of Lubbock, Texas, joined our heavenly father. He was born in Fentress, Texas, on June 1, 1931 to Juan and Beatrice Castro. He married Dominga Barboza on December 26, 1950.Pete worked for Clark Equipment for 25 years and then started working for Texas Tech and retired in 1993.He loved watching all sports but mostly his Dallas Cowboys with his family. He enjoyed traveling but you could always find him spending his summer camping out at the River. Along with his beloved wife, they spent quality time preparing tamales to share with family and friends. 

 Pete was survived by his wife of 74 years, Dominga, sons; Pete Jr and wife Inez, Ricky and wife Patsy, Jesse and wife Gloria; 7 grandchildren, Sandra Cain, Trina Garcia, Patrick Castro, Gabrielle Castro, Danielle Montoya, Celeste Reyna and Mikal Castro and 17 great grandchildren. He also has a sister, Eloisa Garcia and several nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his parents, one son, one brother- Juan Castro Jr and three sisters- Lilly Luera, Frances Chapa and Elena Montemayor.

Honorary Pallbearers: Ricky Montoya III, Michael Reyna and Zane Castro

Visitation will be held from 11:00am -8:00pm on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Combest Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 6:30pm. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 at Christ the King Cathedral. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
