Phil "Pa" Cruzan, 69, of Lubbock, passed away on Wednesday evening, December 15, 2021. Mr. Cruzan was born on August 23, 1952, in Cushing, Payne County, Oklahoma, to the late Donald David Cruzan and Navelle Geraldine (Phillips) Cruzan.
Mr. Cruzan attended Guymon High School, graduating in 1970. He joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in October of 1984. He met Jennie Lynne Farmer, and they were married on June 2, 1990, in Lubbock, Texas.
Phil was a machinist by trade, starting in the Navy and then working for Sun Star Electric and later at Texas Tech University in the Physics Department. He retired from Texas Tech in August of 2021. He loved woodworking, science, studying bible history and was an animal lover. He attended St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, where he was a member of their men's group and served as their treasurer and served as an usher. Phil was the Chairman of the Board at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jennie; two sons, Chris (Daphne) Cruzan of New Deal and Eric Cruzan of Idalou; one daughter, Typhanie Cruzan of Midland; two stepdaughters, Jennie (Mike) Wilson and Marilyn Payne, both of Lubbock; one brother, Don Cruzan of Helena, Montana; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 2 P. M. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, 5320 50th Street, Lubbock, Texas. Pastor Todd Sons will be the officiant.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Missionary Work at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Lubbock or to the South Plains SPCA, 8901 Highway 87, Unit 119, Lubbock, TX 79423.
