Phyllis Elaine Bopp

Phyllis Elaine Bopp, 72, of Lubbock, and formerly of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023.  Phyllis was born on May 22, 1951, in Mt. Vernon, Jefferson County, Illinois, to the late Lugene Smith and Pauline (Miller) Smith.

She met Robert Dean Bopp, and they were united in marriage on December 5, 1969, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Phyllis worked as a sales associate for Wal-Mart for many years, before retiring in 2014.   She loved her grandchildren, all five of them, very much.  She liked to play games, especially dominos, go to rummage sales and was a wonderful cook of comfort food.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her husband, Robert; one daughter, Ashlea Stockton of Lubbock; two brothers, Alson and Dennis Smith, both of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; one sister, Linda Smith of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; five grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Rodney Smith and one sister, Judy Askew.

Services for Mrs. Bopp will be held in Mt. Vernon, Illinois at a later date.  Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.

There being no services locally planned, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
