Prudencio "JR" Subia, Jr. of Lubbock passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the age of 74. He was born February 19, 1950, in Big Spring, Texas to Prudencio and Guadalupe (Garcia) Subia, Sr. At a young age the family moved to Lubbock where he graduated from Estacado High School. He married Gloria Hernandez on November 8, 1971, in Lubbock. JR worked in electrical sales for Builders Square before retiring from Lowes. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and was an avid WWE Wrestling fan. JR took great pride at giving back to his community. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and he, along with Gloria, were volunteer grandparents at Anita Carmona Elementary School. He also took great pride in his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren, never missing one of their sporting events.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 53 years, Gloria; children, Joel Subia and wife Amy, Jason Subia, and wife Casey, and Angelica Subia, all of Lubbock; siblings, Janie Delgado of Amarillo and Maria Garcia Subia of Seattle, WA; and eight grandchildren A.J. Subia, D.J. Subia, Isaiah Dominguez, Xerena Dominguez, Marcos Subia, Nevaeh Subia, Jeremiah Dominguez, and Mya Subia.
JR was preceded in death by his parents, Prudencio and Guadalupe Subia, Sr.; one daughter, Amie Subia; siblings, Josephine S. Cantu, Joe Subia, Bernarda Deleon, Maria Rodriguez, Sarah S. Martin, and Yolanda Jalomo; and other loved ones.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 22, 2024, with a rosary being recited at 6:30 PM at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Father Jose De Dios Gonzalez will be the Celebrant.
