Quata Colene Murphree

Mom, we love you and you will be greatly missed

Quata Colene Murphree passed away on May 15, 2024. She was born to Ruth & Asburn Branscum on January 1, 1934.

Mom had 2 sisters and 1 brother that she grew up with and was very close to. They were raised on a farm and went to school in Fisher County.

 She got married on January 12, 1956, to our Dad, Chester Murphree and started their family. Mom followed dad to San Diego for a short run in the Navy before returning to Rotan. Mom had 2 children, Jerry and Debra and their family began. Mom loved to get outside in the yard, walk up and down the street, visiting with anyone and everyone, especially kids. 

Those left to cherish her memory are Jerry & Cindy Murphree’s family and Debra & Malcom Dunn’s family and sister Leta Smith, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Oh, and one dog Susie. Susie loved to snuggle with mom in her chair and was by her side until the end. Many times, she would get on the bed with mom and just lay there peacefully.
