Rebecca Campos Castilleja, 83, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Mrs. Castilleja was born on December 9, 1938, in La Feria, Cameron County, Texas, to the late Francisco Campos and Aurelia (Ayala) Campos.
She met her first husband, Rogelio Morin, Sr., and was married in 1951 in Lubbock. Mr. Morin preceded her in death on March 2, 2001. She then married Henry R. Castilleja in Lubbock, and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2021.
She worked as a supervisor for Litton Industries for 15 years, before retiring in 1990. Sewing, crocheting, embroidery, gardening and growing roses in her garden were her memorable hobbies and interests. She also loved to travel to Florida and Michigan, as well as Sebastian and Bronte, Texas. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she helped prepare funeral meals for families who lost loved ones at her parish church.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include three daughters, Diana Chapa and her husband Refugio of Abernathy, Mary Trevino and her husband Roy of Lubbock, and Catherine DeLaRosa and her husband Juan of Bronte; two sons, Rogelio Morin, Jr. of Waco and Steven Morin of Texas; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one brother, Francisco Campos and three sisters, Rachael Gauna, Rosa Gonzalez and Maria de Rosario Espinoza.
Visitation for Mrs. Castilleja will be from 4 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, with Recitation of the Rosary at 6 PM. Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1120 52nd Street, with Father Martin Pina as the Celebrant. Final rites and interment will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.
Pallbearers will be Mark Trevino, Alfredo Armendariz, Jr., Aaron Armendariz, Joshua Rivera, Xavier Camacho and Divad Briones.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1120 52nd Street, Lubbock, TX 79412.
