Rebecca Ruth Gast

Rebecca Ruth “Woodall” Gast, 74, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon, March 14, 2023.  She was born on March 1, 1949, in Hobbs, Lea County, New Mexico, to the late George Roger Woodall and Kathryn Louise (Morrison) Woodall.

She attended Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado, graduating with the senior class of 1967.

Rebecca met Keith Eric Gast, and they were united in marriage on June 5, 1970, at the First Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  She loved to cook, bake, travel to the mountains in Colorado and New Mexico.  She was heavily involved in her church activities, being a Sunday School teacher, teaching Girls in Action, and various charity activities through her church and community.  Rebecca worked as an elementary school secretary in the Cotton Center ISD for 15 years, before retiring in 2005.  She has been a member of First Baptist Church in Lubbock for over 25 years.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her husband, Keith; one daughter, Jennifer Rebecca McIntosh and her husband Matthew of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one son, Aaron Keith Gast of Abilene, Texas; five grandsons:  Haddon McIntosh, Boyce McIntosh, Tyndale McIntosh, Noah Gast and Elijah Gast; two granddaughters:  Eden McIntosh and Piper McIntosh.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Kathryn Hunter and Karen Sue O’Donnell.

A time of reflection and visitation for Rebecca will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on Friday, March 17, 2023, in the Oak Crest Suite of Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock, 2210 Broadway, Lubbock, TX.  Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in the Ford Chapel of First Baptist Church, 2201 Broadway, Lubbock, TX.  Matt McIntosh will be the officiant for the service.  Final rites and interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.

Pallbearers will be Joe McFerrin, Joe Stokes, Boyce McIntosh, Haddon McIntosh, Noah Gast, and Elijah Gast.
