Rennick "Renn" Dwight Daniel

December 15, 2011 — August 14, 2022

Wolfforth

The world stopped spinning in a moment of time that hearts broke, and a beautiful angel gained his wings.

Rennick "Renn" Dwight Daniel, 10, of Wolfforth, our beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, and a most fierce friend and warrior, laid down his weapon so he could be with his Lord and Savior Sunday morning, August 14, 2022.

Born December 15, 2011, Renn's warrior heart was evident from his first diagnosis of a brain tumor at 18 months. Following his second craniotomy, he was kicked out of ICU because he was crawling down the hall. Following his third and final craniotomy, he was sent home after he climbed the staircase in the hospital lobby. Through 28 rounds of proton radiation therapy, hair loss, stitches, scars, and countless follow up sedation MRIs, over the next nine years Rennick always had a positive attitude. During one of the MRI appointments his big brother said it best, “Renn is small, but he is humongous.”

Even when the second tumor diagnosis came a little over one year ago, Renn never backed down when facing 20 rounds of photon radiation therapy, physical therapy, and the loss of his signature hair. His courageous and fighting spirit and seeing God's work through him has inspired many people – from children to adults alike.

Funny, sweet, and smart, Renn's smile would fill his eyes and he had the best and most contagious laugh – he would light up the room. One of his teachers said if you were lucky enough to win Renn over, it was like winning the lottery.

Buffalo Springs Lake Pee Wee Fishing Tournament Champion, Bass Master, and Great White Hunter were a few titles he earned handedly, but if he wasn't fishing or hunting he was known as Renn Tin Tin or Sports Center on both the diamond and the grid iron – he had the dirtiest sinker across the plate, his speed made him a serious threat stealing bases and scoring touchdowns, and though he was often the smallest on the team his bat was mighty.

If you could catch him at home, he was typically flying by on four wheels – he loved to ride his four-wheeler and his Go Kart, the latter without brakes.

Rennick will be missed every minute by his parents Justin and Kaley (Paris) Daniel and one brother, Paxton, of Wolfforth; his maternal grandparents Cindy and Scott Perrin, and David and Jennie Oldham; his paternal grandmother Jene Whitman; his maternal uncles and aunts Chad and Lacy Oldham, Chase Oldham, and Lance and Sarah Paris; his maternal great-grandmother Patsy Sinor; and his Chocolate Labrador Charley Brown Daniel.

We have comfort knowing our family's many angels greeted Renn, most for the first time, but also knowing he's running the streets of Heaven with his grandfather Steve Daniel, "Papaw" Garland Murphree, Aunt Kim Allen, his cousin Grayson Oldham, and one of his best friends Kolter Green.

While this is not the earthly miracle we have been longing for, we have peace knowing he has received ultimate healing. For that and the 10 years we were gifted with him we give all glory and full praise to God.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Renn's medical team at Children's Medical Center of Dallas: Dr. Laura Klesse, Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist; Dr. Dale Swift, Pediatric Neurosurgeon; Dr. Tu Dan, Radiation Oncologist; and his local team at Hospice of Lubbock: Heidi Hodges, RN; and Dr. Jeremy Brown; as well as Therapy 2000: Physical Therapist Ashten Stutler and Lillian.
