Retha Anthony

Retha Anthony, 83, of Idalou, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 5, 2023.  Retha was born on January 14, 1940, in Ringling, Jefferson County, Oklahoma to the late Nathan Loyd Choate and Valley Lizzie (Baker) Choate.

Retha met Olion D. Anthony and they were united in marriage on May 24, 1957, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.  Retha and Olion have lived in the Idalou community since 1966, where they have lived and farmed.

Mainly being a housewife and loving mother to her children, and faithful wife to Olion, she also worked as a waitress for a short period of time.  She loved to quilt, go bowling, growing flowers, canning, dancing with her husband and was an avid painter.  She grew up in the Assembly of God faith.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her husband, Olion; four sons; Kary Anthony of Idalou, Kelley Anthony and his wife Patricia of Idalou, Kevin Anthony and his wife Renay of Shallowater, and Travis Anthony and his wife Terie of Shallowater; two sisters, Cindy Popejoy of Wynnewood, Oklahoma and Sallie Choate of Durant, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Olion Kristopher Anthony; three brothers, Ben Choate, Leo Choate and Monte Choate; two sisters, Joann Doss and Janora Lack.

A time of reflection and visitation will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, in the Oak Crest Suite of Combest Family Funeral Home.  Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2023, in the Idalou Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.  Pastor L. J. Wright, of New Home Baptist Church, will be the officiant.

Pallbearers will be Korey Anthony, Kodey Anthony, Travis Anthony, Kasey Anthony, Scotty Anthony and Noah West.
