Richard Gene Fentiman

Richard Gene Fentiman of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the age of 71.  He was born April 13, 1943 in Wymore, Nebraska to Donna (Vasey) Fentiman.  Richard graduated from Weatherford High School and went on to earn his doctorate degree in Ministry.  Richard continued to minister until he was called home.  His ministry was lifelong and far reaching.  He retired from the Lubbock Children’s Home as a Unit Director. He married La Rue Herman on June 26, 1964.  He was a member of South Plains Church of Christ.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, La Rue; children, Richard Gene Fentiman, Jr. and wife Dina, Christina Fentiman Bowman and husband (Jerry), Dean William Fentiman and wife Gina, Monique Fentiman Mayfield and husband Michael and Jessica Larae Fentiman; sister, Kaylene Johnson and husband Jimmy; uncle, Gary Jo Vasey and wife Joan; 12 grand children; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Mason Fentiman; parents, Donna and Dean Williams; brother, Robert Wayne Fentiman and nephew, James Johnson.
