Richard Fisher

May 19, 1966 — April 23, 2024

Richard Ralph Fisher was born May 19, 1966, to parents Yvdonn Fisher and Carolyn Jacob Fisher in Oklahoma City, OK. He was the only son of three children, older sister Tonett Fisher of Blanchard, OK and younger sister Angie Fisher Carmichael of Newcastle, OK. He went home to be with the Lord April 23, 2024.

Rick attended school at Calvin Coolidge Elementary and then Southern Hills Elementary until they moved out to the Blanchard area. He then attended school at Bridgecreek before later graduating from Newcastle High School. He received his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1988. Boomer Sooner!

Rick and Tammy first met in February of 1987, but in July of 1987 at Colorado Church Camp Meeting God's plan for them began. Tammy did not remember that first meeting, because God's timing is perfect. They began dating in July of 1987 and were engaged by July of 1988. They were married in Grassland, TX on January 28, 1989. From their union, they were blessed with three wonderful children. Morgan Fisher Batey, husband Zachary Batey and son Thomas Batey of Tahoka; Braiden Fisher of Dallas, TX; and Cort Fisher of Moore, OK.

Rick was baptized June 19, 1988 into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. Serving God was the most important thing to him. He wanted his family to love the Lord and serve the Lord. On October 28, 2008, God called him to serve as bishop of the Tahoka General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn.

Rick began working at Diamond Shamrock Refinery in Dumas, TX in December of 1988. In May 1998, he left Diamond Shamrock to work for Fina Refinery in Big Springs, TX. After several years at Big Springs, he began working for Intercat where he was able to work from home remotely. Intercat eventually became Johnson Matthey where he worked until his passing.

Rick's greatest joy was his wife and children, but his absolute greatest joy was his grandson Thomas Joe. They were best friends and partners in crime. He was the best 'Dumpy' Thomas could have ever asked for. He loved all of the children at church and would fondly pester and tease them. He always had a joke even if no one else thought it was funny just like a typical dad. Even though he was perceived as gruff sometimes, he was a gentle giant with a loving heart and deep care for others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a love for God's word and wanted everyone to hear and receive the Truth.

He was preceded in death by his father, Yvdonn Fisher and his father-in-law, Larry Owen.

The visitation is scheduled from 5-7 PM on Friday, April 26th at Combest Funeral Home in Tahoka, TX. Services are scheduled for 2 PM Saturday, April 27th at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn, 1025 Ave. K, Tahoka, TX. Burial services will follow at Nevels Memorial Cemetery in Tahoka, TX.
