Richard (Rick) Duane Ribordy

Richard (Rick) Duane Ribordy, a retired police officer and long time resident of Lubbock, TX, died unexpectedly on November 10, 2014 at the age of 56 while at home. 

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Helen Ribordy, his sister Joyce and his brother Dennis.  He is survived by his wife, Brenda Ribordy; his children, Michael Ribordy, Tiffany Decker, Candice Ribordy and Jaykin Ribordy; his sisters Linda Wilson, Nancy Criswell, and Pam R. Cooper; his brothers James, Mike, Leroy, and Chuck Ribordy; his grandchildren Kadence, Jayden, Ryan, Kaya, Allison, Jett, Madalyn, Jordan as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rick was born in Midland on November 18, 1957 to Leon and Helen Ribordy. He graduated from the Lubbock Police Academy in 1988 and worked as a Police officer for the city until he was disabled in action in 2003. On April 11, 1980 he married his wife Brenda, together they raised four beautiful children, who were the most important part of his life.

Rick was a man of many trades who was a problem-solver who often took on difficult and unwanted projects at work and around the house. He was a faithful man who volunteered for multiple organizations and local charities. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 14th at Combest Family Funeral Homes 2210 Broadway Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday November 15th at Calvary Baptist Church with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park with Reverend Jimmy Williams and Dr. Richard Rush officiating.
