Bob Whipple of Lubbock went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 4, 2013. He was born March 20, 1923 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to A. Floyd and Lucile (Jerome) Whipple. Growing up in Tulsa, Guthrie, and Oklahoma City, he graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City in 1941. He attended the University of Oklahoma before joining the U.S. Army Signal Corps serving in World War II. After the war, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in electrical engineering and management in 1949. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity at UT.

Bob married Patsy Landrum in Fort Worth in August 1953; they had three sons, Bob Whipple, Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska, Stephen A. Whipple of San Clemente, California, and David A. Whipple of Lubbock. After working at Texas Electric Service Company in Fort Worth and Litton Industries in Lubbock, Bob had a 24-year career at Texas Tech University, retiring as Director of Telecommunications in 1986. His second career was as vice president of governmental relations at Stenocall, Inc. He also had a successful practice as a labor management consultant. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a strong supporter of the Monterey marching band.

Bob is survived by his wife and sons, as well as granddaughters, Kelsey, Wendy, and Elana Whipple; nieces and nephew, and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00–7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Combest Family Funeral Homes. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 at First United Methodist Church Bowman Chapel with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens.
