Roberta Meyer of Lubbock passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the age of 81.  She was born November 19, 1932 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Jacob and Ruth (Wilson) Montgomery. Roberta married Paul Meyer on May 22, 1954 in Belpre, Kansas. She was the school principal and a member at Christ the King Cathedral. Roberta will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Steven Meyer and wife Kathy of Mesquite; daughter, Paula Shields of Lubbock; brother, Charles Montgomery and wife Gennie of Hutchinson, Kansas; sister, Gennelle Cornelson of Hutchinson, Kansas; five grandchildren, Becky Hardin and husband Casey, Tiffany Salazar and husband James, Courtney Lowry and husband James, Lauren Meyer, and Jacob Meyer; two great-grandchildren, Cash and Hayden Hardin.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, John Meyer; two sisters, Erna Baker and Geneva Doty; and son-in-law, Steve Shields.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with the family receiving friends 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Rosary will follow at 7:30 p.m. at Christ the King Cathedral.  Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 at Christ the King Cathedral with Bishop Placido Rodriguez and Monsignor Ben Kasteel presiding with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorials be sent to 4011 54th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79413 in care of the Roberta Meyer Scholarship Fund, Christ the King School Foundation, or Adopt a Student Program.
