Roddy Jean Doss

Roddy Jean Doss, 85, of O’Donnell, Lynn County, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday evening, December 19, 2022.  Rody was placed on this earth on November 27, 1937, in Lamesa, Dawson County, Texas, to the late Rody Pelts and Mary (Hamilton) Pelts.

Roddy met the love of her life, Roger Doss, and they were united in marriage on June 21, 1955. Roger preceded her in death on July 5, 2015, after 60 years of marriage.

Roddy attended Draughn’s School of Business, graduating with a degree in business.  She worked for the First National Bank in O’Donnell for over 45 years, working her way up from a teller to a bank director.  She loved to paint china, doing decoupage, knit and grow flowers in her outdoor garden.  Her son, Barry, remembered well how his mother would make clothes for her family to wear, as she was very frugile.  She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in O’Donnell.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Barry of O’Donnell; one grandson, Roddy Dan Doss; one granddaughter, Dondi Gee, and her husband Ryan; two great-grandchildren, Shawn Gee and Sam Gee.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Visitation for Roddy will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Combest Family Funeral Home in O’Donnell, 510 8th Street.  Graveside services for Roddy will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, in the O’Donnell Cemetery.  Pastor Taylor Wood and Brother Richard Rush will be the officiants.  Final rites and interment in the O’Donnell Cemetery are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.

Pallbearers will be Chad Swimford, Courtney Stewart, Dan Mott, J. P. Stice, Buddy Thompson, and David McEndree.
