Rudy (Rodolfo) Salazar, 60, Lubbock Texas. went to be with his Lord and Savior, on May 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. After months of treatments, anxiety, pain, and occasional hopes, it came down to the truth that his body could no longer carry on, cancer won this battle.
Rudy was born in Lubbock, Texas, on August 16, 1963, Rudy started working as a teenager for his father, EG Salazar Bricklaying, where he mastered to become a Brick Mason . He took great pride and joy in his work, the way his father taught him. He was employed by David Carrillo's Bricklaying . Rudy loved to be busy either at home or work or even volunteering his time with friends and family. Rudy loved spending time with his wife shopping, going to estate, and garage sales. These two were inseparable in addition to spending time with his family and friends. Rudy was a very generous and caring man who would help anyone in need. He loved watching sports, especially if it was his favorite team, Dallas Cowboys. He always had a bet on the Cowboys. He also enjoys spending time with his family, grandchild, and his beloved fur babies, Max and Rosie. Rudy was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Rudy is preceded in death by his parents, Erasmo (EG) and Eloisa (Benancia) Salazar, and his sister Fidela Salazar Garcia.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Ruth Mendez; son, Michael Mendez, and wife Koyomi and his grandchildren; Selene and Madalyn, his Fur Babies, Max and Rosie; his brothers, Erasmo (JR), Frank, David Salazar of Lubbock Texas, Julian and Francisco Salazar, of El Paso, Texas; his sisters, Sylvia Rios, Houston Texas, Frances Simon, Lafeyette Louisiana, Leticia Ramirez Lubbock Texas. Rudy also had numerous nieces and nephews that he loved so much.
To celebrate his life, he asked if everyone could take one for the team and dress up in Dallas Cowboys attire and think of him when the Cowboys are playing.
A visitation for Rudy will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, from 3 -8 at Combest. Rosary from 5-6 and Funeral Mass on Monday, June 3rd at 10 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Rudy's final destination will be Peaceful Gardens Cemetery, following mass.
