Ronald Lynn Smith, 63, of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. He was born August 5, 1958 in Muleshoe, Texas to Elmer Franklin and Dorothy Mae (Williams) Smith. Ronald grew up in Muleshoe and graduated from Muleshoe High School. He married Wilma Szaloy in September, 1982 and she preceded him in death in March, 2016. Ronald married Twyla Barnard in October, 2017 and she preceded him in death in January of 2021. He was a fun-loving Christian man with a dry sense of humor who loved music and dancing. Ronald was a talented painter who enjoyed working with his hands. He worked for Llano Logistics for 12 years. Ronald was a sports fanatic and collector of sports memorabilia, especially for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He was very involved in his church, the Lone Star Cowboy Church where he served as a Trail Hand. Ronald was active in the church's playday and rodeo activities and also started a grief group at the church following the death of Twyla. He loved his grandchildren and could always be found at their different activities.
Those left to cherish his memories are his stepdaughters, Angelique Weaver and husband, Hadly and Anissa Briseno and husband, Adrian, all of Shallowater; brother, William Franklin Smith and wife Penny, of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Riley Weaver, Brady Weaver, Huston Briseno and Hutson Briseno all of Shallowater; 2 nephews; many loving cousins and a special friend, Linda Brown of Lubbock.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dorothy Smith; wife Wilma Szaloy Smith and their son, William Brandon Smith and second wife, Twyla Smith.
Visitation for Ronald will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Combest Memorial Chapel from 5-7 pm with family receiving friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the Lone Star Cowboy Church with family burial to follow at Muleshoe Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Lone Star Cowboy Church in Lubbock.
