Ronald Buddy Walkshorse passed away March 29, 2025, in Lubbock, TX. He was born on August 11, 1956, to Ronald and Dorothy (Simpson) Taylor, in Salt Lake City, UT. Ronald graduated from Granite High School, UT., in 1974. He married Sherrye Elizabeth Jensen in August of 1977, and they were together until February 2000.
Ronald proudly served his country as a member of the Special Forces in the United States Navy, where he earned a Purple Heart for his sacrifice.
Ronald was a firefighter, trained in search and rescue and hazmat cleanup. Upon retiring, he became involved as a movie scout and gaffer, a professional stuntman, and movie set and design. Later, Ronald became a curator for Dazed Movie Museum in Fort Sumner, NM.
Ronald spoke several different languages, to include, Lakota Sioux, Filipino, and Japanese. His accomplishments were numerous, but to name a few of his accomplishments: Single-Action Shooting Society, Movie Props Association, and Hollywood Stuntman’s Hall of Fame. Ronald held memberships in, Lizzy RedShawl Band, the United Movie Collector’s Guild, the native American Veterans Association, and founded Dazend Movie Props Association.
Ronald enjoyed old west history, movie and cinema history, antique firearms and shooting, wilderness survival, and outdoorsmanship.
Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Ronald James Taylor, a brother, Randy Taylor, his grandfather and grandmother, Barlow and Erma Simpson, and an uncle, Royal Simpson. Those remaining to cherish his memories and carry-on his legacy are his son, Ron Walkshorse, Sherrye Jensen, his mother, Dorothy Taylor, two brothers, Raymond Taylor and Ryan Taylor, a nephew, Randall Taylor, and a niece, Roberta Taylor.
Ronald was a good man, who lived a full life doing the things he loved. He served in the military as a member of the Navy Special Forces. He loved movies and the history of classic cinema. He took part in the production of many films, such as: Footloose, Independence Day, and the Revenant.
Ronald had a great interest in the old west and the founding of this great nation of ours. He achieved his dream; Ronald was the founder of a movie museum, in New Mexico. More than all his accomplishments, He loved his family and friends. “We will miss you Ronald.”
