Rosario Lara, 71, of Lubbock passed away Friday, August 12, 2022. He was born November 3, 1950 to Vicente and Manuela Lara in Lubbock, Texas. Rosario graduated from Ropesville High School in 1970 and went on to become a roughneck.
Rosario enjoyed playing sports and loved playing football and running track. He officiated many basketball games, and all South Plains and district in football. Rosario often enjoyed motorcycle rallies and spending time with his family when he was not playing sports. He was a good brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Anthony Lara of Lubbock, Michelle Lara of Levelland, and Eric Lara of Ropesville; brothers, Antonio Lara (Hope), Abram Lara (Virginia), both of Lubbock, and Atanasio Lara of Ropesville; sister, Mary Garza (Tommy) of Brownfield; cousins, Joe Lara (Martha) and Alcario Lara, Jr. (Gail) both of Lubbock; sister-in-law, Rachel Lara; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rosario was preceded in death by his parents, Vicente Lara, Sr. and Manuela Lara; brothers, Delfino Lara and Vicente Lara, Jr.; son, Roy Lara; nephew, Delfino Orion Lara; cousin, Robert Lara; uncle, Alcario Lara, Sr.; and aunt, Fidencia Lara.
Visitation for Rosario will be 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the Venue on Broadway. Rosario’s celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2022 also at the Venue on Broadway, with burial to follow at Ropesville Cemetery.
