Ruby Nell Grogan, 101, of Amarillo, TX, passed to her heavenly home on April 12, 2022. Her graveside service will be April 16th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Nevels Cemetery, Tahoka, TX. Pastor Lance Herrington, of Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo, will be officiating the service.
Ruby was born on February 18, 1921, in Sylvester, TX. She had 4 sisters and 1 brother. She and her siblings picked cotton and loved swimming in the river. She married G. W. (Satch) Grogan, in March of 1940. They made a living by farming, raising livestock and chickens. They raised 3 children, Gary, Vonceil, and Lana. They were very active in their lives going to football and basketball games, and all their church and school activities. They were married 56 years before Satch passed away in March of 1996.
Ruby was a member of the Tahoka First Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She helped with Vacation Bible School and led a senior group, Triple L-live, laugh, and love for several years. She was very active in her community, planning bus trips and helping to raise money for fund raising projects.
Nannie was very involved with every aspect of her family's lives and was an avid supporter of anything her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participated in. We all enjoyed going to Nannie and Grogies for Christmas and other holidays. Nannie was the life of the party, dressing up the grandkids with costumes and putting on a show that we all laughed and enjoyed watching.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Satch Grogan, her son Gary Wayne Grogan of Amarillo, 3 sisters and 1 brother and a granddaughter Mandy Ham.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Lana and husband Robert Ham of Amarillo, Vonceil and husband Miller Cunningham of Hurst Tx, and her daughter- in-law Barbara Grogan of Amarillo. She has 5 grandchildren, Vonda Bailey, Matt Cunningham, Jill Klein, Juliana Rosser and Holly Ziegler. She has 15 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
Ruby Grogan lived life to the fullest. She had a wonderful family that loved her, and will miss her very much, and many dear friends.
