Sandra Ruth Harrod

Sandra Ruth Harrod of Questa, New Mexico passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the age of 67.  She was born October 27, 1945 to John and Juanita (Witten) Smoot.  Sandra grew up in Olton and attended Olton High School.  She and her husband, Duane Harrod, farmed in Olton before moving to Lubbock.  In 1982, the couple divorced.  Sandra went on to own The Flower Patch in Slaton for six years.  She painted and owned her own gallery before moving to Questa in 1993 to own and operate The Kachina Lodge.

Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Denise Sparks and husband Michael of Idalou and Suzane Hagerty and husband Steve of Holladay, Tennessee; one brother, Jerry Smoot and wife Christine of Childress; four grandchildren, Stephen, Regina, Dakota and Van; and one great-grandchild, Ayla.

Sandra was preceded in death by parents and son, Duane Harrod, Jr.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Combest Family Funeral Homes in Idalou.  Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at Combest Family Funeral Home Chapel in Idalou with interment to follow at the Idalou Cemetery.
