Santos Atkinson

April 14, 1924 — December 16, 2021

Santos Vasquez Atkinson в??Little Grandma Santos' as she was affectionately known, was born in Ben Bolt, Texas to Francisco and Maria Vasquez on April 14th, 1924 and passed away December 16th, 2021. Santos was a Godly woman and strong in her faith, we rejoice that she is in Heaven today.

Santos was a mother of 12, she was a happy out-going person who loved singing and dancing, and made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed playing skip-bo, dominoes and bingo, and usually won. As a young mother she would get up before dawn to cook breakfast and make lunch for the family. She would work all day in the fields with them, come home, cook for everyone again, clean up, make sure everyone was bathed, and be the last one to go to bed. She never complained about her circumstances and just kept going. Santos had a beautiful voice - her older children remember her singing в??rancheras' while they picked cotton, and her younger children remember her singing Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash at home. She witnessed many inventions in her 97 1/2 years but her favorite was the cell phone, as she could talk to family any time, any where. She was widowed at the age of 54 and still had children at home to raise. She was very frugal, worked hard, and made sure no one ever went to bed hungry. She loved to travel and even lived in Japan for many years with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings, her husband, 4 children, 2 daughter's in law, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children Edward (Maria) Atkinson, Margaret (Raymond) Correa, Janie Ramirez, Marie Wiggins, Guilibaldo (Geneva) Atkinson, Elizabeth (Ricardo) Martinez, Pete Atkinson, Coleen Atkinson and 30 grandchildren, 52 great-grand children and 10 great-great grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
