Senaido "Cowboy" Hernandez

Senaido “Cowboy” Hernandez, 83, of Tahoka passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 in Tahoka surrounded by his family.

Senaido was born on May 24, 1939 in Brownsville, Texas to Praxeaes Hernandez and Margarita Camacho Hernandez.  He had lived in Tahoka for many years working in farming for Norman J. Kelln, Jr., John Hawthorne, Jack Miller and the Farmers Co-Op Association in Tahoka.  He had owned and operated Hernandez Tire Shop in Tahoka for many years, and he passed on his wisdom to his sons, David and Manuel, for the family business, but also his granddaughter, Briana.  He loved welding and making new projects out of metal.  Any chance he could get, he would be out on the grill making food for his family; he was known for making his brisket.  He was known for being a hard worker and a caring man.  He would watch WWE with his grandsons every time it came on.  While watching Judge Judy in his home, he would always say that she was his girlfriend, and he wasn’t joking.  If he wasn’t watching either of those shows, he would be watching old western cowboy movies.  He loved to tell jokes while having a conversation with someone.  More importantly, he loved his grandchildren and loved to see them grow and would be there every step of the way.

Senaido is survived by his six children, David and Brenda Hernandez, Manual and Monica Hernandez, Joe and Rhonda Hernandez, Sylvia Hernandez, Michelle Hernandez, and Pauline Hernandez, and 4 grandchildren, Briana and Trystan Hilger, David Hernandez, Jr., Steven Hernandez, and Anthony Hernandez.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and five siblings, Carmen Hernandez, Gene Hernandez, Maria Hernandez, Manuel Hernandez, Bertha Hernandez, and Petra Cruz.

Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Combest Family Funeral Home in Tahoka, 1821 Main Street, with Rosary services being recited at 6:00 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, November 25, 2022 at Saint Jude Catholic Church, 1829 South Fourth Street, in Tahoka.  Interment will follow at Nevels Memorial Cemetery in Tahoka.
