Shay Mousavi, born on January 21, 1976, in Lamesa, Texas, passed away on August 24 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy defined not only by his accomplishments but also by the profound love he held for his family and friends.
At the age of 14, Shay accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was very proud of being a Christian. Shay attended Coronado High School in Lubbock where he earned his high school diploma in 1994, He furthered his education at Texas Tech University, graduating with a degree in Business in 2001. Throughout his career, Shay explored various paths, from lifeguarding at Texas Water Rampage to working in gyms and owning his own businesses. However, his heart truly belonged to his role as a devoted father. He cherished every moment spent caring for his beloved son, Syrus, whom he inspired with his passion for life and unwavering support.
A fitness enthusiast at heart, Shay loved bodybuilding and working out, embracing every challenge with a contagious enthusiasm that motivated those around him. His dedication to health and fitness not only enriched his own life but also served as a beacon of encouragement to family and friends who admired his discipline and passion. As a family, they loved to travel, take road trips, and watching movies.
Shay is survived by his loving wife, Nikki Mousavi, who stood beside him through life's highs and lows. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and endless love. He is also survived by his cherished son, Syrus Mousavi, who will carry forward his father's spirit and values into the future.
He leaves behind his parents, Oneita and Jimmie Poehl, and Max Mousavi, who provided him with unwavering support throughout his life. Shay was fortunate to have siblings who shared joyful moments and supported him throughout his journey; he is survived by Todd Poehl, Rhonda Romero, Terry Woodard, Melody Weems, Dusty Poehl, and Constance Mousavi. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by many loving aunts and uncles, several sisters and brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom had the privilege of knowing his kind-hearted spirit.
Shay was predeceased by his beloved grandparents: Owen Floyd, Eunice Floyd Brantley, Everett Brantley, Reinhardt Poehl, Fray Poehl, and Papa and Mama Mousavi, who will forever hold a special place in his family's heart.
Visitation will be held on September 3, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Venue on Broadway, located in Lubbock, Texas. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, concluding with a burial at Resthaven Memorial Park. Family will welcome guests for a reception at Scottish Rite from 3 PM to 5 PM.
Shay Mousavi's warmth, dedication, and joyous spirit will be forever missed, but his memory will continue to inspire those who loved him. He taught us the importance of family, the value of passion, and the beauty of life lived to the fullest.
