Shirley Houlette, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away on January 23, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on February 6, 1936, in Altus, Oklahoma to proud parents Fred Arthur Sr. and Bessie Burgett.
Shirley was a woman of many accomplishments and wore multiple hats throughout her life. After graduating from Texas Tech with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, she embarked on a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Her dedication to her profession and her meticulous attention to detail earned her respect from colleagues and clients alike.
But Shirley's impact extended far beyond the walls of her office. She was actively involved in her community and served as the President of the Lioness Club. Through this role, she tirelessly worked to make a positive difference in the lives of others, always lending a helping hand and offering support wherever it was needed.
Aside from her professional achievements and charitable endeavors, Shirley will be remembered most for her love of life and the joy she brought to those around her. She had an infectious spirit that radiated warmth and happiness. Fun-loving by nature, she cherished every moment spent with her friends and family, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever.
One of Shirley's proudest accomplishments was being a loving mother to her children. Her unwavering support and guidance shaped their lives in immeasurable ways. Nothing brought her more happiness than watching them grow into successful individuals.
In addition to being a dedicated mother, Shirley was also a successful business owner. Through hard work and determination, she built a thriving enterprise that allowed her to provide for herself and her loved ones. Her entrepreneurial spirit serves as an inspiration to all who knew her.
Shirley's zest for life was matched only by the love she had for her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and lives touched by her kindness. Her surviving family members, Eric and Deborah Smith, Fred and Mary Arthur, Angie Arthur, Khristi Swinney, Toby Buchannan, Tracy Kachadourian, Jeannette Massey, Sheridan Dodson, and Gerald Kennan, will forever hold her in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Houlette, her parents Bessie Burgett and Fred Arthur Sr., sister Cindy Burkhart, and nephew Troy Buchanan.
A graveside service will be held to honor Shirley's memory on February 1, 2024, at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. The service will begin at 3:00 PM. All are welcome to attend and pay their respects to a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many.
Shirley Houlette's passing is deeply mourned by all who knew her. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished friend.
