Simon Ramos

Simon Reyes Ramos, 73, passed away February 23, 2023, in Lubbock, TX. He was born February 17, 1950, to Pedro Sr. and Felicita (Reyes) Ramos, In San Juan, TX. Simon graduated Estacado High School, Lubbock, in 1970. During high school, Simon met, and married, Marianela Banda; together, they had 7 children: Ruby, Samuel, Simon Jr., Rudy, Billy, Cristina, and Dallas.

Simon went to work for Central Freight Liners, as a semi-truck driver; earning the nick-name of, “The Diamond.” He earned a prestigious award of 25 years of safe semi-truck driving, while working for Central. When The Diamond was not working, he enjoyed classic cars, watching old western movies, UFC, and the Dallas Cowboy’s football games. Simon enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, but he loved the Lord, was a Christian, and attended Tell Baptist Church.

Simon was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Felicita, and a daughter, Ruby Kay Ramos. Those left to cherish “The Diamond’s” many memories are his wife of 53 years, Marianela; their children, Samuel Ramos, Simon Ramos, Rudy Ray Ramos, Billy Jay Ramos, Cristina Ramos, and Dallas Duke Ramos; grandchildren Bridget Nicole Ramos, Amanda Ramos, Constance Marie Ramos, Hailee Rhea Ramos, Matthias Lino Ramos, Alexandria Alea Ramos, Natalie Anne Ramos, Veronica Paige Ramos, Vincent Soto Jr., Paul Anthony Soto, Vashti Celistal Garcia, Diamond Zari Rodriguez, Jorge Augustine Garcia, Jon Reminton Garcia, Jose Alesandro Rodriguez, Charlotte Moira Ramos, Kamrie Brooke Ramos; great grandchildren, Ava Nicole Harlin, Mason Luke Trevino, Jerimiah Jesse Guadarrama, Aliyah Jade Guadarrama, and on the way a new baby Ramos.

Simon’s family will have a memorial service, to honor “The Diamond”, at a later time and date. A viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, February 28, 2023, from 1:00pm-5:00pm, at Oakridge Suite, Combest Funeral Homes, 2210 Broadway St., Lubbock.
