Suette Roberts Green, 67, of New Home, passed away on Friday afternoon, November 26, 2021. She was born in Midland, Midland County, Texas on December 9, 1953, to the late Jerry Roberts and Eloise (Shaw) Roberts Wood.
She married Pat Green on December 9, 1993, in Brownfield. Pat preceded her in death in July of 2021.
Suette attended Midland High School, graduating in May 1972. She attended Texas Tech University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education (K-8) in the Spring of 1981. She earned a Master Reading Teacher Certification from Texas A&M in Corpus Christi in 2001. In 2003, she earned a Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance from Texas A&M in Kingsville. She held numerous certification licensures, including Provisional Elementary in grades 1-8 for Self-Contained Grades and Mathematics, as well as Provisional Kindergarten PK-KG. In addition, she held licensures as a Standard Master Reading Teacher for EC-12 and Standard English as a second language for EC-12.
Suette dedicated her life to the field of teaching. It was all she ever wanted to be growing up. She loved learning and wanted her students to love it too. For 28 years, teaching was her life. Beginning in 1981, she was employed for 14 years at Tahoka ISD teaching first grade, fourth grade, and the Gifted and Talented K-6 program. She and Pat moved to Sinton, TX in 1997 where she was employed by Sinton ISD for 10 years. There she was a Reading Intervention Teacher and Counselor for grades Pre-K - 2. After Pat retired, they returned to West Texas living in New Home. She taught at New Home ISD for four years until she retired in May of 2011. Following retirement, she went through training with CASA and served as a CASA Volunteer/Advocate and also worked as the secretary of First Baptist Church in Tahoka.
Outside of teaching, Suette loved reading, shopping, and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. The Christmas & Easter holidays were especially big in her life and she thoroughly enjoyed going all out for her loved ones birthdays and special occasions.
She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Cook and her husband David of Tahoka, Robin Williams and her husband Rock of North Richland Hills; one step-son, Michael Green of Matador and two step-daughters, Angela Green of LaPorte and Traci Cawman of Lawton, Oklahoma; one brother, Danny Roberts (Carol) of Midland; one sister, Ellen Roberts (Mike) of Marble Falls; step-sister, Stacy Yadon of Midland, step-brother, Leland Wood (Angel) of Voca; step-sister, Teresa Garrett (Mark) of Weatherford and 13 grandchildren: Braden, Riley, Scout, Mikeith, Hunter, Michael, Heath, Mitch, Mallie, Alaina, Matthew, Elyse and Wesley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-father Wayland Wood and beloved nephew, Dustin Nabors.
Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Tahoka, with Rev. Cliff Holdridge officiating.
