Tina Castillo

Tina Castillo, 90, of O’Donnell, Texas went to be with her Lord and savior Tuesday, July 30, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

 

Rosary and funeral services celebrating her life will be held in Tahoka, Texas, Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Deacon Daniel Romo officiating.  Burial will follow at O’Donnell Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Combest Family Funeral Homes.

 

Tina Castillo was born in Buda, Texas to Eufemio and Paz Ortiz on October 13, 1928.  She married Joe Castillo on February 19, 1955 in Lamesa, Texas.  She was a devout member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and served as a faithful member of the Guadalupanas.  In her later years, she grew fond of the Jimmy Swaggert Ministries as well as Crystal River Ministries.  She has great faith and was a true believer of Jesus Christ.  Tina, a loving mother and homemaker spent many happy moments preparing meals for her family, especially during the holidays.  She also enjoyed sketching pictures of nature and spending time outdoors with her plants and flowers.

 

Tina is preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-six years, Joe Castillo; a brother, Benny Ortiz; three sisters, Lupe Acosta, Juanita Morales, and Julia Calderon.

 

Tina is survived by her children, Joe Castillo, Jr. and wife Yolanda, John Castillo and wife Soyla, Robert Castillo, and Anita Hernandez and husband Aurelio; brothers, Jesse Ortiz, Johnny Ortiz; sisters, Polly Gloria, Minnie Amaro, Nell Casarez, Luisa Jimenez, and Margaret Garza; eight grandchildren, Erik Castillo, Jeffrey Castillo, Destiny Castillo, Phylicia Castillo, Carlos Castillo, Tiffany Hernandez, Chris Hernandez, Ignacio Gonzales; and eight great-grandchildren; also, a close niece, Mary Vaughn.

 

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Castillo, Erik Castillo, Chris Hernandez, Carlos Castillo, Joe Castillo, and Billy Vaughn.

 

In lieu of flowers family and friends may make memorial contributions to Crystal River Ministries, P.O. Box 53251, Lubbock, Texas 79453.

 

The Castillo family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Rodolfo Martinez and the nurses at Covenant Palliative Unit who lovingly cared for Tina during her last days.
