Tom Drought, Jr.

Tom Drought, Jr., 63, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, December 6, 2022.  He was born on June 16, 1959, to Jane (Travis) Drought and the late Thomas Drought.

Tom met Laurie Ganus, the love of his life, and they were united in marriage on August 17, 2013, in Lubbock.

Tom attended Alamo Heights High School, graduating in 1977.  He was a self-employed contractor, retiring in 2022.  He was very family oriented, loved to travel and was a motorcycle enthusiast.  Tom loved life to the fullest and was always caring and looking out for others to help.  His recovery community was a big part of his life, and he had 11 years of sobriety, of which he and his family were proud of.  He was a member of Lubbock Refuge Church.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, Laurie; one son, Michael Don Mills of Lubbock; his mother, Jane Drought of San Antonio; one stepson, Sergio T. Trevino, Jr. of Lubbock; one stepdaughter, Kimberly Trevino Herrera and her husband Matthew of Lubbock; three sisters, Kathleen Danysh and her husband Richard of San Antonio, Jane Bell and her husband Philip of Corpus Christi and Virginia King and her husband Chuck of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Keighton, Kenedi, Maddex and Thomas; his mother-in-law, Norma Ganus.  Tom was preceded in death by his father.

Celebration of Life Services will be at 2 PM on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Lubbock Refuge Church, 4308 58th Street, Lubbock, TX 79413.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials, in Tom’s name, to the Lubbock Faith Center, 2809 Clovis Road, Lubbock, TX 79415 or to ARC, 608 17th Street, Lubbock, TX 79401.
