Tomas Mata of Lubbock passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the age 66. He was born in Lubbock on December 21, 1946 to Abelardo and Elvira (Carrasco) Mata, Sr. Tomas was a trucker and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia; father, Abelardo Mata, Sr.; three daughters, Melissa and husband Stephen Williams, of Katy, Texas, Chris and husband Rudy Valdez Jr., and Bridgette and husband J.J. Cruz; two sons, Abel and wife Sally, and Tomas J. Mata; one brother, Juan Mata; three sisters, Emily Garcia, Irene Wilson, and Sheila Cantu all of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren.
Tomas was preceded in death by his mother; brother Abelardo Mata, Jr.; sister Mary Huerta; son Abraham Mata.
Visitation is scheduled 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013 with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Combest Family Funeral Home. Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the animal shelter of your choice.
