Tommy Mantooth, 71, of Lubbock, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. Tommy was born in 1951 in Grand Prairie, Texas to Dr. Walter B. and Arniece Mantooth.
He was raised in Lubbock, graduated from Coronado High School, and attended Texas Tech University, majoring in Spades! Tommy served six years in the Army National Guard. Upon return to Lubbock, he followed in his brother Dub’s footsteps and obtained his real estate license at age 21 and began a fifty-year career in real estate.
He married Mandy Owen in 1998 and they have one son, Kevin Mantooth, of Lubbock.
Tommy loved family, his dogs, fishing, go-karting, riding four-wheelers, target shooting, fast cars and flying. He was very mechanically-minded and loved to take small engines apart and put them back together.
He is survived by his wife, Mandy of Lubbock and son, Kevin Mantooth of Lubbock; sister, Debbie (Chris) Teesdale of Dallas; sister-in-law Laurie Evans (Peter Malouf) of Plano; nieces, Erin Evans, Griffin Evans, Christina Cohen, Alexandra Mair and Courtney Graves and nephew, Blake Evans. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Walter B. Mantooth III, and sisters Carolyn Mask and Ann Mantooth.
Rosary and visitation for Tommy will be held from 5pm-7pm on December 18, 2022 in the Venue at Combest Family Funeral Home, 2202 Broadway Ave, with recitation of the rosary at 6pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Monday December 19th in the Chapel at St. Elizabeth University Parish located at 2301 Main Street with Father Jacob Powell presiding. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.
Pallbearers will be Gary Voyles, Karl Garnett, Johnny Williams, Wayne Taack, Peter Malouf and Blake Evans.
