Tony O. Carrasco, 79 of Lubbock, passed peacefully at home on Monday April 14, 2014. A visitation for family and friends will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday April 17, 2014 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2014 at Freedom Baptist Church, 40th and Ave B in Lubbock with Pastor Cruz Soto officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
Tony was born January 26, 1935 in Lubbock, and was a life-long Lubbock Resident. He married Pauline Reyna on July 10, 1954 in Lubbock. Tony was a retired Baptist Pastor, serving the communities of Lubbock and Burnet, Texas. He worked for and retired from the City of Lubbock after 33 years of service. He was an active member of the Copper Rawlings Senior Center where he enjoyed his coffee, dominoes and fellowship. He was a member of the Community Action Board of Lubbock where he served as president for two years and also served as Chaplain at UMC from 1990 to 1992. He loved playing the guitar and singing gospel music and was also a big Texas Tech and Dallas Cowboys football fan.
Tony is survived by his wife Pauline; daughters Sylvia Subia of Brownfield, Herminia Martinez of Lubbock and Zora Escamilla of Dallas; sons Lewis “Dino” Carrasco (Sandy) and Jonathan Carrasco, both of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grand children; four great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Helen Mata of Shallowater, Anita Gonzales of Lubbock and Susan Vela of Denton.
