Trinidad R. Martinez, Jr

Trinidad R. Martinez, Jr. of Lubbock passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014 at the age of 71.  He was born May 1, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas to Trinidad and Ramona (Rodriguez) Martinez, Sr.  He worked as a cotton ginner for many years.  Trinidad married Dominga Rangel on January 18, 1965 in Brownfield.  He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of more than 49 years, Dominga; two sons, Jesus Martinez and Alicia Lozano and Steven Martinez, all of Lubbock; two daughters, Angela Martinez of Lubbock and Erlinda “Wendy” Garcia and husband Alfonso of Tulia; brothers, David Martinez of Slaton, Miguel Martinez of Lubbock, Edward Martinez of Kyle, Texas; sister, Janie Gonzalez of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Trinidad was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Samuel, Joe and Martin Martinez.

Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with rosary starting at 7:00 p.m.  Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with interment to follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hinshaw and his medical team, Southwest Cancer Center and staff, and MICU at UMC for the endless care of a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
