Valencia Rose Barnes, our beloved Rose, passed away on December 27, 2024, at 12:09 PM after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. From diagnosis to her passing, only 36 days had elapsed, leaving her family and friends heartbroken and her absence deeply felt.
Rose was a vibrant and loving soul who cherished every moment of her life. She found immense joy in her animals, her job, her books, and above all, her family. Known for her generous heart and infectious laughter, Rose brought warmth and light to every room she entered. Whether offering help to someone in need or sharing a story that brought tears of laughter, she made an indelible impact on everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Angie Ragan and her husband Jimmy Ragan, and Beth Jones and her husband Daniel Jones. Her cherished grandchildren, Justin Kerr, Jillian Jordan, Harrison Ragan (fiancée Keegan Foltz), and Braxton Ragan, were a constant source of pride and joy. Rose also leaves behind her loving brother James Moore and his wife Catherine Moore, her dear sister Alice Macias, and her treasured nephews Steven and John Macias.
Rose now joins her parents, Zina Burke and John Max Moore, and her sweet Sammy Naylor in heaven. Though her earthly presence is no longer with us, we find solace in knowing she is at peace with Jesus.
Rose dedicated much of her life to the students and staff of Coronado High School, where she made a lasting impact. Even in her final days, she spoke fondly of “her kids” and the work she loved. Her passion for her job and her deep care for those around her were unmatched, leaving a legacy that will not be forgotten.
Valencia Rose Barnes was more than a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend—she was a force of love, energy, and laughter. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but her memory will be cherished and celebrated by all who knew her.
Rest easy, sweet Rose, in the arms of Jesus. Until we see you again, we will carry your love and laughter in our hearts.
The family has planned a come and go memorial gathering from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Kress Building, 1109 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401. The family would love to see and fellowship with all who loved Valencia.
