Vivian Florene Howard Houchin of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the age of 90.  She was born June 21, 1923 in Ralls to Orice and Emma (Lark) Beck.  Vivian was married to Derwood Howard for 26 years and later to Marvin Houchin for 32 years.  Vivian worked alongside her husband Marvin owning and operating the House of Shades in Lubbock.  She also spent 20 years with the J. C. Penney Company.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Eddie Howard and wife Mary Ann of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Carolyn Brock and husband Buddy of Ardmore, OK; step-daughter, Marlynn Applin of Keller, TX; sister, Emma Lee Norwood of Tulsa, OK; five grandchildren, Bryan Brock, Christy Brock Parham, Jonathon Howard, Jennifer Howard Giles, Steve Young; and six great-grandchildren.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Derwood and Marvin; two brothers, Jay and Marvin Beck; and two sisters, Nola Lyles and Willie Mae Holland.

Visitation will begin at noon on Monday, May 26, 2014 at Combest Family Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends 5:00-7:00 p.m.  Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the First Baptist Church Ford Chapel with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
