Wanda Faye Houk, 88, of Lubbock passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021. She was born on June 23, 1933 in Tahoka, Texas to Cleedia and Cleo (Moore) Marlin. Wanda grew up in Tahoka and the surrounding areas as her father worked for the railroad which meant frequent moves for the family. In her younger days she loved sports and was a tomboy who could always beat the boys. She married John Houk on May 8, 1955 in Tahoka and together they celebrated 18 years of marriage. Wanda worked in sales and as a personnel manager. She was a tower of strength whose home was always a safe haven for everyone. Wanda loved her church, God and her family throughout her life. Wanda was a great cook and baker and made the best red velvet cake. She loved her family "to the moon and back". Wanda was a member of Sunset Church of Christ for over 50 years and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles in her spare time.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Mike Houk and wife Holly and Terry Houk; grandsons Tyler Houk and wife Lauren, Ryan Houk and wife Mandi, Taner Houk and wife Megan; 5 great-grandchildren, Brenlee, Blayne, Blazlynn, Hadlee and Jenson; sister, Geneva Botkin and 4 nephews, Monty Botkin, Gary Botkin, Tim Botkin and David Botkin.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, John Houk and her parents, Cleedia and Cleo Marlin.
Visitation for Wanda will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 1-8pm at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with family receiving friends from 5-7pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 10AM at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
