Wauldean “Dean” Herring of Lubbock passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the age of 96. She was born October 4, 1918 in McCaulley, Texas to James Hardy and Lessie May (Maberry) Pope. On September 3, 1938 she married Charles Herring. She cherished spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all. One of Wauldean’s greatest enjoyments was traveling the United States in their RV.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Linda Cloude and Jack of Lubbock and Shirley Prothro and Ronald of Wolfforth; four brothers, Dan Pope of Sweetwater, John Turner (Joy) of Georgetown, Ray Pope (Del) of Roby and Joe Pope (Rita) of Dayton; two sisters, Imogene Potts (Mickey) of San Antonio, Jane Morris (Ray) of Sidney; four grandchildren, Susan and Fred Zellars, T.J. and Cindy Lynn Cloude, Scott and Sherri Prothro, and Steve and Shannon Prothro; five great-grandchildren, Shaina and Tanner Sanders, Shay and Josh Kristinek, Abbi Prothro, Wyatt Prothro, and Jonah Prothro; four great-great-grandchildren, Rylie and Ty Sanders, Reese and Grant Kristinek; best friends, Mavis Taylor and Greta Cullers.
Wauldean was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 69 years; three sisters, Lois Adams, Burton Crain and Juanita Jones.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Balch, Megan Green, Calvert Home Health Care, and Gentiva Hospice.
Visitation will be 12:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2014 with the family receiving friends 6:30- 8:00 p.m. at Combest Family Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at City of Levelland Cemetery.
